THE USE WIFI FACILITIES TO IMPROVE STUDENT LEARNING
OUTCOMES AT SCHOOL

This article’s objective is to describe the relationship between the intensity of the use of wi-fi with student learning outcomes at school. There are few factors that affect the wifi uses, those factors appear a positive relationship impact to the students. It means that the higher use of wifi at school, then the learning results will be higher. With the Wi-Fi facilities at schools will let the students get information easily and increase the creativity of the students inside and outside the class.

Education was not immune from the changes and development of the times. It is very favorable to the world of education, particularly in schools that are required to provide the best educational services in accordance with the demands of the times and the needs of students. These services include the education that is supported by complete facilities. One of the facilities provided such as the wifi service at school, but as we all known wi-fi facilities is not used to the maximum by the students, whereas the benefits of Wi-Fi facility at the school is very influential to the student learning outcomes and greatly facilitate the students in learning. Therefore, the author hopes this article can be a basic thought for the students that the use of wi-fi facility can improve student learning outcomes at schools.

- The Use of Wi-Fi facilities
As the development era that more advanced, the need for information increase in both from the print and electronic media, but as we know this time most of the media that used is unprinted like radio, television, and the Internet. As we known the media is emerging information-proliferation is the internet. Currently the internet is a medium that give many benefits to society in the world of information, especially among students. The internet is a medium of communication and information of the most comprehensive and complete, because it includes a lot of information and communication media that can be accessed by everyone with great ease. Many ways to get internet access, one of them is with wi-fi facilities that can be found in various places such as at school, at home, and many others. Wi-Fi is a wireless network that can be used to access the internet very easily. There are several factors that led to the use of wi-fi at schools such as students need to the internet which must be fulfilled, the need for students to gain knowledge, as well as the students who want to improve and channeling creativity over the internet. Facilities Wi-Fi has been widely applied in various schools, especially schools that have national and international standards that exist in Indonesia. But in fact these facilities are less well utilized by students and teachers, when the benefits that they will get from wi-fi facilities are very helpful in learning.
- The results of student learning in school
Education cannot be separated from the teaching and learning activities. Learning is a process undertaken by learners to achieve success. Success in learning is influenced by a variety of many factors involved in learning, including learning outcomes would also be influential in the development of students at school. Efforts learning outcomes are achieved in the form of numbers, scores, or it could be in the form of science that were made by students from tests that have been passed. The objective in the assessment of learning outcomes invented no other is as a reference to see the student’s mastery receive course material. Learning outcomes achieved by students affected by two factors, namely internal factors and external factors. Internal factors are factors that exist within the students, the influence of these factors is reasonable and logical, because the nature of the act of learning is a change in behavior in individuals who intend to learn and realized and felt the need to learn and excel. While external factor is factor that are outside the student such as environment, motivation, and social economy. In addition, interests and abilities are also a great influence on the success of student learning will be achieved.
- The relationship between the use wifi facility with student learning outcomes at schools
From the previous discussion that the use of wi-fi and student learning outcomes above, there were several factors that affect each other. Given these factors would appear the relationship between the use of wi-fi in schools with the student. In the journal that authors read, entitled Relationship Between The Intensity and Interest of use School’s Wifi Facility over Student Learning Outcomes Study ICT SMAN 1 Jetis Bantul academic year 2011/2012 written by Wahyu Hidayat, stating that there is a positive and significant relationship between the intensity of use of facilities Wifi schools with student learning outcomes in ICT subjects, meaning the intensity of use of a high school wifi facility will produce high learning outcomes, as well as interest in the use of high wifi then produce higher academic achievement.

The results obtained with the SPSS 17.0 for Windows is the coefficient of regression towards 0.003 X1, X2 regression direction for 0287, and amounted to 55 185 Constants. So the equation of the regression line is Y = a1X1 + a2X2 + K = 0.003 X1 + X2 + 55 185 0287. Significance test multiple regression analysis (Ry (1.2)) of 0572, carried out by finding the price of F from the calculations, the price of 21 903 F count. The results are then consulted with the F table for db (numerator) 2 and 90 db at a significance level of 5% by 3:09. It turned out that 21 903 F count is greater than the F table 3:09. Thus it can be concluded that there is a positive and significant relationship between the intensity and interest in the use wifi with student learning outcomes in ICT subjects in SMAN 1 Jetis Bantul 2011/2012 school year. Based on calculations also known determinant coefficient R2 of 0327. This may imply that either the absence or the student’s success in achieving the learning outcomes of ICT is determined by the intensity and interest in the use of wifi for 0327, or 32.7%, while the rest (100% -32.7%) = 67.3% explained by other factors or variables that are not included in the study.
The authors of the journal can prove that the use of wi-fi facility will affect the students who frequently access the Internet via Wi-Fi facilities at the school. The benefits derived from wi-fi facilities in school does will be perceived by the student and the school itself, including costs incurred by the school is more efficient than using the internet cable, can be used by everyone without complex requirements, wifi can be used to access a variety of information via the Internet that cause a school not outdated, wifi can also be arranged so that students cannot access various internet sites that smells negative, a variety of free learning materials are easily available on the internet, through via wifi students can also save expenses to buy books, and many more benefits that can be taken from the use of wi-fi at schools. The way to access the wi-fi is very easy, just with a laptop and a mobile phone that is compliant with Wi-Fi access, students are able to use the facilities available at the school. Therefore, a good school is a school that provides good facilities and can also be beneficial to all students and teachers at the school. Thus the use of high wi-fi facility will produce an achievement and student learning outcomes are high.
From the article above it can be concluded that the existence of a positive relationship wi-fi use to improve student learning outcomes in schools, it means that the higher interest in the use of wi-fi at the school environment will improve student learning outcomes that can shape students into globally minded young generation. In addition, the benefits gained not only felt by the students, but the teachers and schools may also benefit greatly from the presence of Wi-Fi facilities.
